(Eagle News) — Senate Majority Leader Tito Sotto on Thursday, April 26, said he was open to assuming the Senate presidency if majority of his colleagues wanted him to do so.
“I’m open to that if they give it to me. Sino naman ako para tumanggi?” Sotto asked at the Kapihan sa Senado.
According to Sotto, a possible change of leadership in the Upper House has already been discussed, with sitting Senate President Koko Pimentel seeking reelection in 2019.
He said the matter would be discussed again hopefully before Pimentel’s filing of candidacy.
“We will consider the leadership of the Senate again and we will consult the members kasi hindi pwedeng dalawang senador lang ang mag-uusap kung sino ang magiging Senate leader. It’s always a consensus, it will be a majority decision,” Sotto said.
