South China province braces for Typhoon Sonca

HAINAN PROVINCE, China (CCTV) — Hainan Province in south China is bracing for Typhoon Sonca, which is expected to make landfall on the island province between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

By Sunday noon 24,456 fishing boats have returned to port with all people working on the vessels also having returned to port. The last three boats are on their way back to port, according to the local marine fisheries department.

Sea and air transportation authorities in Hainan Province and the neighboring Guangdong Province have made changes to help send travelers ahead of the eighth typhoon of the year.

The seventh typhoon of this year Roke made landfall across coastal waters off the northeast part of Hong Kong at about 10:00 on Sunday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to Guangdong Province.
