(Reuters) –South Korea’s coast guards found more bodies of missing ferry passengers on Sunday (April 20) as rescue operations continued and the number of confirmed topped 50.
The coast guards moved the bodies from one boat to another to bring them to awaiting family members at the port.
More divers managed to gain access to the stricken ship on Sunday as guide ropes were installed to help them through the tricky and fast currents in the area, although for many of those waiting in Jindo the recovery was still not quick enough.
The number of confirmed dead rose steadily throughout Sunday to 56 with 246 still listed as missing by late afternoon.
