FLORIDA, United States (Reuters) — South Korean Kim Si-woo became the youngest ever winner of The Players Championship when he clinched an emphatic three-stroke victory in Florida on Sunday (May 14).
Kim produced a flawless final round three-under-par 69 to become the second South Korean to win the prestigious event after 2011 champion K.J. Choi.
At 21, Kim displayed composure beyond his years to finish on 10-under 278 at the TPC Stadium course in Ponte Vedra.
Englishman Ian Poulter was the only player to put any pressure on Kim over the final few holes.
Poulter hit a 71 but bogeyed the last to tie with South African Louis Oosthuizen, who shot a final-round 73, in second place on seven-under.
