MANILA, Sept. 19 (PNA) — To ensure the safety and comfort of families evacuated from Mount Mayon danger zones in Albay, authorities started distributing “starter kits” to the displaced people.
901st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Raul Farnacio on Friday said that these “starter kits” consist of blankets, sleeping mats and mosquito nets.
Farnacio said these items are now being given to families sheltering in evacuation centers.
The 901st Infantry Brigade commander said that no untoward incidents has been recorded in the evacuation centers except for the heavy rains.
The Southern Luzon Command earlier announced it is readying its medical teams to treat evacuees who may have gotten sick while being evacuated to safer areas.
This was revealed by Southern Luzon Command chief Major Ricardo Visaya in a message to the Philippines News Agency.
“SOLCOM is now readying medical teams and relief goods to be sent to evacuation centers in Albay,” he added.
Around 20 evacuation centers were activated to shelter the families evacuated out of the communities near the Mount Mayon danger zones.
