State of calamity declared in El Nido, Palawan

(Eagle News)—–A  state of calamity has been declared in El Nido, Palawan due to flooding caused by heavy rains in the area these past few days.

“Many families were evacuated due to floods,” the Philippine Information Authority-Mimaropa said in a post.

According to PIA-Mimaropa, the barangays that were “badly affected” were  Villa Libertad, Bucana, Masagana, New Ibajay, Aberawan.

“Josie” and “Henry” enhanced the southwest monsoon in recent weeks, bringing heavy rains in several parts of the country.

They have since left the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
