Still kicking for 2016 – keeping your resolution doable

New years resolution

QUEZON City, Philippines (December 31) –  2016 is charging with all its might, faster than our realizations that we are getting a year older and there will be a lot of things that will surely happen. As humans, we tend to adapt, and to adapt, we need to change. Some of us may have wrote a couple or three resolutions we plan to do next year, having the clichés such as “losing weight”, “be a good person” and “no procrastination”. The downside is also cliché, making the resolution only practiced for only a month or two – in some cases, only a week – having obviously no results.

Why is that? It is because of impatience. Because of our fast lifestyle and you-only-live-once attitude, majority thought that everything earns something in an instant. Let me rephrase the famous quote: “Good things come to those who work their best and wait”. If there is patience, there should also be effort. The combo is a good wake-up call to everyone who wants to change, not only for their sake but also for their family and peers.

Optimism is also essential. Once you become optimistic about the results of your hard work, at the same time, you also become a realist. Nobody achieved something good as a pessimist. Like a smile or laughter, positive thinking is contagious. Changing yourself happily will inspire others to do the same thing, creating a reverse domino effect; standing up, not falling down.

One doesn’t need to join a reality TV show in order to change physically or mentally. We can do it mostly on our own and a little help from our friends and family, for it depends heavily on our mentality and eagerness. There are no barriers and boundaries, because we’re the ones that can change our fate, not the other way around.
