Storm Jolina weakens after landfall, now over Ifugao

(Eagle News) — Tropical Storm Jolina has slightly weakened and is now in the vicinity of Ifugao province after making landfall over Casiguran, Aurora Friday night.

As of 5 a.m. Saturday (August 26), PAGASA says Jolina’s estimated rainfall is from moderate to heavy within its 300 kilometer-diameter. It was in the vicinity of Aguinaldo Ifugao as of 4 a.m.

It has maximum sustained winds of up to 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph, down from last night’s 80 kph maximum winds.

It is forecast to move west northwest at 20 kph, and is expected to be 380 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte by Sunday morning.

Based on PAGASA’s 5 a.m. forecast, these 11 provinces are under storm warning signal number 2: Isabela, Quirino, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Benguet, Abra, La Union and Nueva Vizcaya.

Storm warning signal number 1 is hoisted over these areas: Aurora, Cagayan including Babuyan group of islands, Apayao, Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan.    (Eagle News Service)
