QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that the odd-even scheme will still be discussed by the new MMDA council before its implementation.
During a consultative meeting, though, MMDA officer-in-charge Tim Orbos said that the “general consensus was that it would be better if the full-day odd-even scheme is implemented on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.”
He said this was because it was believed “it is less complicated and would not cause confusion among motorists.”
If implemented, a full-day odd-even scheme will ban vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 (or the odd numbers) from driving EDSA from 7 AM to 9AM, 1PM to 3PM, and 5PM to 7PM.
On the other hand, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 2, 4, 6, 8, 0 will not be allowed to travel from 9AM to 11AM, 3PM to 5PM, and 7PM to 9PM.
The Metro Manila Transport Consultative Council is tasked to make suggestions on traffic measures and policies to the Metro Manila Council for approval.
