Duterte admin surpasses its previous records, record achieved by then-President Benigno Aquino III’s gov’t in June 2013
(Eagle News) — The government of President Rodrigo Duterte has obtained a record-high rating of excellent, surpassing its previous records and the record achieved by his predecessor’s administration, based on the latest Social Weather Stations survey.
Results of the poll done from December 8 to 16, 2017 showed that 79% of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the general performance of the current administration, with only 12% neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and 9% dissatisfied.
The resulting net satisfaction rating of +70, which is classified by SWS as excellent, is four points above the previous record of +66, or very good, registered by the administration of then-President Benigno Aquino III in June 2013, and by the Duterte administration in September 2016 and March 2017.
The net satisfaction rating is also a 12-point increase from the +58, or a very good, the Duterte government obtained in September 2017.
High scores across geographical areas
According to the SWS, the 12-point increase in the Duterte administration’s net satisfaction rating was due to the “new record-high net satisfaction scores achieved in Mindanao, NCR, and Balance Luzon, combined with a steady score in the Visayas. ”
The net satisfaction rating of the Duterte government was at a whopping +87, still an excellent, in Mindanao.
The rating is an increase from the +74 the national government got in September 2017, and surpassed the previous record in Mindanao pegged at +81 in September 2016.
In the National Capital Region, the net satisfaction rating of the Duterte administration rose to another record-high +71, an excellent, up by 20 points from the +51, a very good, the national government obtained in September 2017.
The December 2017 rating surpassed the previous record of +67 recorded by the Duterte administration in June 2017.
In Balance Luzon, the Duterte administration’s net satisfaction rating was at another new record-high of +67, a very good, up by 15 points from the +52 in September 2017.
The new rating surpassed the previous Balance Luzon record of +63 in June 2017.
Net satisfaction rating of the Duterte government was at a +57, a very good, the same net rating the same administration recorded in September 2017.
Increased ratings across classes, other categories
The national administration’s net satisfaction rating is at a new record-high +71, an excellent, among members of Class D in December 2017.
This was 11 points higher than the +60, a very good, the administration obtained in September 2017, and surpassed the previous record of +68 among members of Class D in September 2016.
Among members of Class E, the Duterte administration was given a net satisfaction rating of +66, a very good, which was 20 points higher than the +46, a good, it got in September 2017.
Net satisfaction rating of the national government was at a +62, a very good, two points higher than the +60, also a very good, in September 2017.
“Double-digit increases in the Duterte administration’s net satisfaction rating occurred among men, among the 35 year olds and above, and among non-elementary school graduates, elementary school graduates, and college graduates,” the SWS said.
Very good in 5 subjects
Out of 18 specific performance subjects rated, the SWS said that net satisfaction ratings of the Duterte administration were a very good in fighting terrorism (+67), helping the poor (+66), building and maintenance of public works like roads and bridges (+59), foreign relations (+55), and providing jobs (+50).
It was good in reconciling with Muslim rebels (+48), telling the truth to the people (+47), defending the country’s territorial rights (+46), protecting human rights (+45), reconciling with communist rebels (+43), fighting crimes (+43), eradicating graft and corruption (+42), ensuring an efficient public transportation system (+42), ensuring that no family will ever be hungry (+33), solving the problem of extrajudicial killings or EJKs (+30), and ensuring that oil companies do not take advantage of oil prices.
Net satisfaction rating of the Duterte administration was moderate in fighting inflation (+24) and resolving the traffic problem (+23), the SWS said.
The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide: 300 each in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Sampling error margins are pegged at ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
