SWS: Only one of four Filipinos aware of federal system of gov’t

(Eagle News) — Only one of four Filipinos are aware of the federal system of government, a recent Social Weather Stations survey found.

The survey, done from  March 23 to 27, 2018, also found that 75% only learned about it when the poll was conducted.

According to the SWS,  awareness about the federal system of government was highest in Mindanao at 37%, followed by Metro Manila at 28%, Visayas at 22%, and Balance Luzon at 20%.

The awareness level was “slightly higher in rural areas,” at 27 percent, than in urban areas, at 24 percent, the SWS said.

“It was highest among college graduates at 53 percent, followed by high school graduates at 26 percent, non-elementary graduates at 17 percent, and elementary graduates at 16 percent,” the pollster said.

According to SWS, the survey also found that 37 percent agree with the federal system of government, 29 percent disagree, while 34 percent were undecided.

“This gives a net agreement score +7, classified by SWS as neutral,” it said.
