(Eagle News Service) — The percentages of families who see themselves as poor and food-poor have declined based on a recent Social Weather Stations survey.
The survey conducted from June 23 to 26 showed that families self-rated as poor were at 44 percent, six percentage points less than the figure in March, when the pollster conducted the same survey.
Self-rated poverty is lowest in the National Capital Region (28 percent), followed by Balance Luzon (34 percent), and then by Mindanao (57 percent).
Self-rated poverty was highest in the Visayas (64 percent), based on the recent SWS survey.
The percentage of families who see themselves as food-poor is pegged at 32 percent, three percentage points less than the figure in March.
Self-rated food poverty was lowest again in the NCR (16 percent).
The NCR was followed by Balance Luzon (27 percent), and then by Mindanao (41 percent).
Self-rated food poverty was highest in the Visayas (44 percent).
The non-commissioned SWS survey was done via face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide— 300 each from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Sampling error margins are pegged at ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
