LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) — Photos of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston walking hand in hand and cuddling and kissing on a rocky beach have created a media storm since they were published in British tabloid The Sun on Wednesday (June 15). Some news outlets and social media postings have even gone so far as to say the photos, reportedly shot near Swift’s seaside Rhode Island home, were staged. Swift, 26, has long lived her romantic life in the public eye, writing chart topping hits with narratives that parallel her real life relationships with fellow celebrities.
10-time Grammy winner Swift and “Thor” actor Hiddleston were first seen together at New York’s Met Gala in early May, when Swift was still dating Scottish musician Calvin Harris, one of the world’s top earning DJs. Harris and Swift’s relationship officially ended on June 2nd with a tweet by Harris. Since the photos of Swift and Hiddleston have appeared Harris has deleted the tweet and the former couple have unfollowed one another on social media.
By the beginning of 2016, Swift has sold over 40 million albums, with her last release, 1989, selling 5.7 million copies. According to many film insiders, Hiddleston, 35, is a leading contender to take over as the next big screen James Bond.
