TD “Ambo” slightly intensifies as it moves over PHL Sea

(Eagle News) — Tropical Depression “Ambo” slightly intensified on Monday, May 11, as it moved westward over the Philippine Sea.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m., the center of “Ambo” was estimated  340 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

In the next 24 hours, the trough of the tropical depression will bring scattered light to moderate with isolated heavy rains during thunderstorms over Mindanao, PAGASA said.

Moderate to rough seas will be experienced on the eastern seaboards of Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental.

“Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are advised not (to) venture out (to) these areas,”PAGASA said.
