TESDA to open its training centers to drug addicts and pushers

TAGUIG CITY, July 21 (PIA) — Newly appointed Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Secretary, Atty. Guiling Mamondiong announced on Wednesday that TESDA will be opening its training centers all over the country for skills training of drug dependents and pushers.

“This is in response to reports of convicts and inmates who resort to their old trades after serving time in jail because they have no other means of livelihood,“  Mamondiong said.

The Secretary emphasized the need for an alternative means of livelihood for these inmates in order to help them have a second chance in life.

“TESDA will take the lead in this endeavor, in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), I will task all Regional and Provincial Directors of TESDA to coordinate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and DILG to put this activity in motion,” Mamondiong said.
