Reuters — A suit-wearing baby shows viewers who’s boss at the box office as “The Boss Baby” grabs top billing in its opening weekend at United States theaters with a draw of an estimated $49 million, according to boxoffice.mojo.com. Featuring the vocal work of Alec Baldwin, the film follows a baby who up-ends a family with his arrival.
Coming in a close second is Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” with an estimated earnings for $47.5 million during its third week.
“Ghost in the Shell,” starring Scarlett Johansson as a cyber-enhanced human devoted to protecting the world from evil, made it’s weekend debut at third place, earning $19 million in tickets sales.
Lionsgates “Power Rangers” took fourth place with a draw of $14.5 million during it second week in theaters across North America.
Rounding out the top five was “Kong: Skull Island that earned $8.8 million during its fourth week, according to the box office monitoring website.
