Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City is known to be the home of the best basketball teams in the Philippines. Before the rise of the new stadiums such as MOA Arena and others, Cuneta Astrodome was once the king in accommodating big basketball games. But just recently, Cuneta Astrodome was used as a battleground of the new generation. New kings were born in the e-Sports scene!
Last November 28 & 29, 2015, TheNet.Com organized an e-Sports event which featured the Top 8 e-Sports teams in the Philippines in their respective game titles. The event was entitled as “The Grand Finale 2015” as this was the grand finals of the yearlong tournament of TheNet.Com.
As expected, the tension between the teams was so high. “It’s not just about the money, it’s really more of the pride of being the champion” Nico Barcelon said, the captain of TNC Pro Team who’s one of the top contenders in Dota 2.
The event did not only featured action packed games but different booths and brands were present in the event. Some of the famous brands are MSI, Razer, Gigabyte, and Philips.
The event was also made available online for the supporters who can’t make it to the event. AzubuTV, one of the partners of TheNet.Com is the one responsible for bringing the content to the online viewers. AzubuTV is one of the fastest rising streaming platform in the world today. Hieu Steve Le, eSports Manager of Azubu North America was present during the event. During his talk, he officially announced that AzubuTV will be venturing in the Philippines and will definitely help to make the e-Sports scence bigger in the country.
With the support from these brands, e-Sports does not have anywhere to go but on top. We can probably expect more quality events in the future not only from TheNet.Com but from the whole e-Sports community in the Philippines.
