Supreme Court Spokesperson Theodore Te has resigned.

Te’s resignation is effective Sept. 7.

His term was co-terminous with Maria Lourdes Sereno’s, but it was extended under the term of acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio after Sereno was ousted by the Supreme Court via a quo warranto petition in May.

His extended appointment, which would last until a new Chief Justice was appointed, had been signed by three chairpersons including then-Associate Justice and now-Chief Justice Teresita de Castro.

Atty. Maria Victoria Gleoresty Guerra will serve as   PIO chief  and SC spokesperson, a post she already held in previous times.

According to Te’s resignation letter, he will go back to teaching full-time.

“I respectfully believe that I would be of greater value to the judiciary and the Court in the academic world at this time,” he wrote.

Anti-Sereno groups already called for Te’s resignation after his controversial “I dissent” Tweet following the SC’s ouster of Sereno.
