(Eagle News)–Keith Thurman heaped praises on Manny Pacquiao, after he suffered his first defeat in the hands of the Filipino boxer who was ten years his senior.
“Pacquiao is truly a legendary boxer,” Thurman told Fox Sports after the historic match at the MGM Arena.
According to Thurman,going into the match he knew Pacquiao had the “momentum” after the Filipino boxer scored a knockdown in the first round.
“My output was just behind Pacquiao’s..Tonight has been a blessing and a lesson,” Thurman said.
Pacquiao, for his part, also commended Thurman for being a “good boxer.”
“He’s not an easy opponent,” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao is the WBA welterweight champion via split decision.
Glenn Feldman had it at 114-113 in favor of Thurman, while Dave Moretti and Tim Cheatham scored 115-112 in favor of Pacquiao.
This is Pacquiao’s only second win via split decision.
