The top police officials named by President Rodrigo Duterte as having links with drug trade denied the allegation.
Former National Capital Region Police Office or NCRPO chief Joel Pagdilao said he has been fighting drugs in the past years of his police service and vowed to clear his name.
Both former Western Visayas Police Director General Bernardo Diaz and General Marcelo Garbo, Jr. , said wrong information reached Duterte.
Garbo also said he cannot blame the president for making such announcement, but said he assures the president and the Filipino people that Duterte was fed with wrong and poisonous information.
Another former general, and now Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Vicente Loot, cried politics, saying he has been a “perennial victim” of black propaganda since his wife, also a former mayor, entered politics.
General Edgardo Tinio, for his part, said Duterte’s accusation was grave, and promised to clear his name.
