MAY 7 (Reuters) — A tornado hit northern Germany on Tuesday (May 5), leaving devastation in its wake.
One bystander managed to safely film the tornado as it passed through the countryside, but elsewhere dozens were injured and in Hamburg one person was killed by falling debris.
The storm devastated the town of Buetzow, causing millions of Euros worth of damage and injuring dozens in the town of 7,600 people.
Cars were destroyed, trees upturned and buildings damaged by the winds.
A cyclist was severely injured by falling roof tiles and three houses were evacuated overnight for fear of collapse.
The extent of the damage was still unknown as emergency services tried to assess the situation and began the clear-up.
Storms are also expected in other parts of Germany over the coming days. (Schwerin, Germany)
