The expected heavy traffic going to NLEX and Bulacan this weekend is actually manageable, this according to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
In a televised interview, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said that traffic flow in the area is bearable as of around 4:30 pm despite the expected 3 million Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members who are flocking to the Ciudad De Victoria in Bulacan for the 100th anniversary of the religious organization.
“It’s going well. There is systematic unloading and parking in the area. And the traffic flow is actually moving despite the sheer number of vehicles,” Tolentino said.
According to Robin Ignacio, head of traffic and management of NLEX, the traffic is moving and they have also added ambulant tellers “to speed up the process in exit tolls.”
However, in a more recent traffic update, traffic has worsened and as of 6:30 pm, streets leading to NLEX and Bocaue have been grounded to a halt. NLEX officials advised motorists to take alternate routes or postpone trips even.
About 10,000 buses and many thousands more vehicles are en route to the Ciudad De Victoria for tomorrow’s INC centennial celebration. The event will begin at 7 am and last until 12 noon.
