SYDNEY, Australia (Eagle News)–Crime and fire fighting is truly a noble yet dangerous and challenging work. Many police officers and firefighters risk their own lives to save others. These past few weeks, members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) in Australia and New Zealand paid tribute and honored the brave firefighters and police officers of the land.
As part of the church’s INC Giving Program, a Heroes Appreciation Day for the Police and Firefighters was held in Christchurch, New Zealand last July 2nd while the same event happened in Sydney, Australia today, July 8th.
In Christchurch, members of the INC led by their Resident Minister Bro. Benito Sumang gathered at Abros Place, Burnside. An officer from the local police department and fire fighters from the nearby fire station visited the construction site of the new House of Worship. They shared very important safety tips and in turn, learned more about the Iglesia ni Cristo.
In Sydney, the appreciation event happened at the Sydney Fire Station in Castlereagh Street where members of the Church, led by their District Minister Bro. Teodorico Samson Jr. along with the other district and resident ministers, paid a visit to the station and socialized with the firefighters.
They all enjoyed the fellowship and the warmth of the church brethren. Truly a blessing to cap the week. (Eagle News International Bureaus Correspondent, Emmi B. Capili)
