Trillanes claims his action was not “unethical” and “unparliamentary”

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said that it was too early for Senator Richard Gordon to say that he has the support of 14 senators or majority of the Senate supporting the ethics complaint filed against him.

Trillanes explained that the ethics committee would still conduct a hearing first, before this would be debated and voted by the plenary.

Trillanes then defended himself, saying that he did not do anything “unethical” or “unparliamentary” in the past Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings where he had a heated argument with Senator Richard Gordon, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Hindi ko naman siya minura. Hindi ko naman siya sinampal...I did not use offensive language,” he said.

He also defended his comment describing Gordon’s blue ribbon committee as a “komite de abswelto.”   He claimed that this is only his “observation” which he voiced out while the hearing was suspended.

Pag hindi mo yan sinabi during session, hindi yan counted. Suspended yung hearing, it doesn’t count,” he said.

Senator Gordon on Monday night, Sept. 4, formally filed an ethics complaint against Trillanes before the Senate ethics committee.
