Trillanes gives Duterte SONA a grade of zero

(Eagle News) — “Zero.”

This was the grade Senator Antonio Trillanes IV gave President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 23.

“Sa akin po zero dahil 20 plus thousand na na Pilipino ang pinatay niya,” he said in a press conference.

Trillanes made the statement even as he noted that “walang grado ang pwedeng magjustify (sa mga pagpatay) at sa mga taong naging biktima ng anti-tambay policy.”

He noted that Duterte did “not say anything” about the increase in prices of basic goods nor about the P6.4-billion shabu shipment, and “lied” about his statement on the government’s solutions on the increase in the prices of rice and his alleged statement he ended contractualization.

The President said 300,000 workers have been regularized under the government’s campaign against contractualization.

Duterte signed Executive Order 51 banning the illegal contracting and sub-contracting of workers on May 1.

He admitted, however, that ending all forms of contractualization was not within his power.

The Labor Code allows for the contractualization scheme.

He, however, urged Congress to pass a law banning the same “once and for all.”

“Kitang kita na ramdam ang kahinaan ng administrasyon na ito na pinag-aagawan na ng mg kaalayado niya dati,” Trillanes said.
