(Eagle News)–Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday, Sept. 7, insisted President Rodrigo Duterte wants him arrested even without a warrant.
“The AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and PNP (Philippine National Police) still have orders to have me arrested even without a warrant,” Trillanes, who has neen holed up in the Senate since Proclamation No. 572 declared void ab initio the amnesty granted to him, said.
Trillanes made the statement even after Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the President himself said a warrant should be issued by a civilian court before the senator is apprehended.
Roque had said the President made the statement during a Cabinet meeting in Israel, where Duterte was on a four-day official visit.
The President is slated to arrive in Manila on Saturday morning from Jordan, where he proceeded after his visit in Israel.
“At matapos po ang mahabang talakayan, nagdesisyon po ang Presidente that he will abide (by) the rule of law,” Roque said.
