(Eagle News)–Senator Antonio Trillanes IV left the Senate on Saturday, Sept. 29, almost a month after he had been holed up in the building following news of the issuance of Proclamation No. 572 that declared the amnesty granted to him for the Oakwood mutiny and Peninsula Manila siege in 2003 and 2007 respectively void ab initio.

Pictures showed Trillanes packing his things before his departure, which took place a day after Judge Andres Soriano of Branch 148 of the Makati Regional Trial Court, where the senator was charged with the non-bailable charge of coup d’état, scheduled for hearing the Department of Justice motion that sought for an arrest warrant and a hold departure order against him instead.

Judge Elmo Alameda of Branch 150, where Trillanes was charged with rebellion, earlier granted a similar DOJ motion.

The charge, however, is bailable, which enabled Trillanes to post a P200,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

Proclamation No. 572 cited as bases for the declaration Trillanes’ alleged failure to file an official application form for the amnesty, and his alleged failure to make an express admission of guilt for the crimes committed.

The proclamation also noted Trillanes did not recant all his statements pertaining to the incidents.

Trillanes has denied all allegations.
