Trillanes on amnesty revocation: It’s a clear case of political persecution

(Eagle News)—-Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday, Sept. 3, maintained he had complied with the minimum requirements for the amnesty granted to him by then-President Benigno Aquino III, saying his was a “clear case of political persecution.”

“Absolutely complied lahat yan.Mga kaso sa civil courts nadismiss yan..,” he said.

Asked if he had applied for the amnesty in the first place, he said: “Di ka naman bibigyan ng amnesty kung wala kang application.”

“Maliwanag yun. Ito, it’s a clear case of political persecution dahil wala sila mahanap na kaso sa akin so kailangang mag-imbento,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte revoked the amnesty granted to Trillanes in Proclamation No. 572, noting a certification issued by the Armed Forces of the Philippines that he never applied for the amnesty in the first place.

Duterte noted Trillanes was also not repentant over the incidents Oakwood and Manila Peninsula mutinies in 2003 and 2007.
