QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — A typhoon with an international name of Nepartak is expected to landfall in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday, July 5, the country’s weather bureau said.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services and Administration (PAGASA), the center of the tropical storm was moving at 2,060 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph). It is forecast to move northwest at 7 kph.
Based on the forecast track, the tropical storm is expected to become a major typhoon by Thursday morning.
Once Tropical storm Nepartak enters the PAR, it will be named “Butchoy,” the second typhoon to hit the country.
