(Eagle News) — Vice President Leni Robredo may soon face an impeachment complaint.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said he was studying filing the complaint against Robredo, who he said had betrayed the public trust.
Alvarez appears to be referring to Robredo’s criticism of President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war in a video that was shown in an event organized by a nongovernment institution that is against drug wars in general.
The event was held on the sidelines of a main United Nations event in Vienna, Austria.
In the almost-six-minute video, Robredo said that the war had rendered people in the country “hopeless and helpless,” as the bodies reportedly continue to pile up.
I have to make sure that it can stand trial,” he added.
