(Eagle News) — Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde has relieved two police officials following the misencounter in Samar that left at least six policemen dead.
Relieved were Supt. Glen Oliver Cinco, officer-in-charge of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 and Chief Inspector Don Archie Suspeñe, commander of the 805th Mobile Company, RMFB 8.
P01 Wyndell Noromor, PO1 Edwin Ebrado, PO1 Phil Rey Mendigo, PO1 Julius Suarez, PO1 Rowell Reyes, and PO1 Julie Escalo were killed after Suspeñe’s group was fired upon by members of the Philippine Army’s 87th Infantry Battalion at Sitio Lunoy, Barangay San Roque in Santa Rita on Monday, June 25.
The military fired at the group thinking they were Communist rebels.
An investigation is underway.
