Two poultry workers from San Luis, Pampanga test negative for bird flu

(Eagle News) — The two poultry workers from Pampanga who exhibited flu symptoms have tested negative for bird flu.

In a radio interview on Wednesday, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said based on the results of the test done by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, the poultry workers from San Luis where a bird flu outbreak was declared this week had influenza type B, or human influenza, instead.

Influenza type A is bird flu, while influenza type C is pig flu.

“Yung isa nilalagnat, yung isa medyo inuubo, sinisipon. Mild symptoms lang,” she said.

She said the two have already been given medicine for their symptoms.

Authorities earlier allayed the public’s fears the bird flu virus could be transmitted to humans.
