Typhoon Nona expected to leave Phl by Saturday

(Eagle News) – As of 4 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 16, typhoon Nona was located 125 km Northwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

It has maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph, and is forecast to move West Northwest at 9 kph.

Public storm warning signal number 3 is declared over Northern Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island, which is expected to experience strong winds of 121 kph to 170kph. Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, Northern Oriental Mindoro and the rest of Occidental Mindoro were placed under storm warning signal number 2 and will experience strong winds of 61-120kph in the next 24 hours.

Metro Manila, Pampanga, Southern Zambales, Bulacan, Laguna, Calamian group of Islands and the rest of Oriental Mindoro were all placed under public storm warning signal number 1.  These areas will feel winds of 30-60kph in the next 36 hours.

PAGASA said that Typhoon Nona is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday morning (Dec. 19)
