Typhoon Ruby to make second landfall in Masbate

Typhoon Ruby is expected to make a second landfall in the vicinity of Masbate this morning.

In an official report by The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), Ruby will make landfall in Masbate area associated with strong wind, storm surge (up to 3 meters) and heavy to torrential rain.

“Estimated rainfall amount is from 10-30 mm per hour (heavy-torrential) within the 500 km diameter of typhoon”.

Ruby and the Northeast monsoon will bring rough rough to very rough to the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas and over the Northern seaboard of Mindanao.

NDRRMC also reported that a total of 146,875 families have been evacuated in the Regions of IV-A, IV-B, V, VI,VII, VIII, and CARAGA.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,459 passengers are currently stranded and 92 domestic flights have been cancelled due to bad weather.

In addition, power outrages are currently down in the following areas:

Province of Quezon, Municipality of Malunay, Catalenon, and Catanuan

Region VI-A
Ilo-Ilo

Region VIII
Northern Samar, Municipality/City of Allen, Victoria, San Isidro, Lavezares, Catubig, Gamas, Laoang, Pambuhan, Las NAvas, Bobon, Catarman, Mondragon, San Roque, Rosarion, San Jose, and Lope de Vega.

Eastern Samar
Municipality/City of Sulat, Taft, Can-Avid, Dolores, Oras, San Policarpio, Arteche, Jipadpad, Massliog, Borongan, San Julian, Maydolong, Llorente, Salcedo, Guiuan, MacArthur, Hernani, Quinapundadn, Giporlos, Balangiga, and Lawaan.

Samar
Tinambacan, Oquendo, Calbayog, Sta. Margarita, Gandara, Pagsanghan, Tarangnan, San Jose, Matuguinao, Marabut, Basey, Sta. Rita, Villareal, Talalora, Pinabacdao, Calbiga, Hinabangan, San Sebastian, Paranas, San Jose, Motiong, Catbologan, Jiabong.

Leyte
Tacloban City, Palo, Babatngon.

Southern Leyte
Sogod, Bontoc, Libagon, Silago, Lioan, St. Bernard, San Juan, Anahawan, Hinundayan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, and San Ricardo.

Mobile Communication is also currently down in some parts of Leyte and Eastern Samar.
