(Eagle News) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Tuesday lifted the 30-day suspension on Uber, after the ride-sharing app paid the P190-million fine imposed on it by the agency.
The LTFRB imposed the fine in response to Uber’s appeal of the suspension the agency originally meted out for the transport network company’s defiance of a July order that banned the TNC from further accepting driver accreditations.
The LTFRB said that Uber should also give a P19.9-million daily assistance to its affected drivers for the suspension to be lifted.
The P190-million fine is higher than the P10 million Uber had originally offered to pay in lieu of the one-month suspension, but the LTFRB said the final amount was derived by multiplying Uber’s average daily income of P10 million by the remaining 19 days of the suspension order.
