UK, French arrests over ‘football tax fraud’

LONDON, United Kingdom (AFP) — British and French authorities searched premises on both sides of the Channel Wednesday, arresting several men and seizing financial records over suspected tax fraud in the football industry, officials said.

Britain’s tax authority HMRC said it had “arrested several men working within the professional football industry,” with media reports claiming that English clubs West Ham United and Newcastle United have been targeted.
