(Eagle News) — Tropical Depression “Tino” maintained its strength as it prepared to make landfall over Palawan on Friday.
In an advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 4 p.m., the center of “Tino” was spotted 65 kilometers east of Puerto Princesa.
The tropical depression is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour.
Moderate to heavy rain is expected within the 200-kilometer diameter of the tropical depression, with Palawan under Signal Number 1.
Residents there are warned against possible landslides and flashfloods.
Light to moderate rains, on the other hand, are expected over the Visayas, Bicol Region, and Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.
“Tino” is moving west northwest at 28 kilometers per hour and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning.
