(Eagle News) — Amid separation issues, the United States sends a new envoy to Manila.
Sung Kim, a soft-spoken veteran U.S. diplomat with considerable experience facing the North Koreans, was sworn in Thursday at the State Department by Secretary of State John Kerry.
The new American Ambassador to the Philippines said, he is eager to start his work in manila amid antagonistic remarks from President Rodrigo Duterte.
Kim was nominated for the job in May and won senate confirmation in September.
He previously served as us special envoy to the six-party talks on the north’s nuclear program, ambassador to South Korea and special representative for North Korea policy and deputy assistant secretary for Korea and Japan.
