VACC names individuals allegedly involved in Dengvaxia mess

Group to present doctor-witness in Senate hearing on Monday

(Eagle News) — The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption on Saturday named individuals it said were involved in the assessment, procurement and administration of Dengvaxia during the term of then-President Benigno Aquino III.

VACC counsel Ferdinand Topacio said the names were given by a witness–a Department of Health doctor–who wished to provide details about the Dengvaxia mess.

Topacio said the doctor, who came forward in March, told him these individuals were retired Undersecretary Boy Gako, former Undersecretary Kenneth Hartigon-Go, former Undersecretary Vicente Belisario, Undersecretary Gerry Bayugo, Undersecretary Carol Taino, Undersecretary Lilibeth David, Assistant Secretary Lyndon Lee Suy,  DOH Region IV Director Rio Magpantay, Philippine Children’s Medical Center executive director Julius Lecciones, Expanded Program on Immunization officer-in-charge Joyce Ducusin, and DOH National Capital Region Director Ariel Valencia.

Topacio said he has submitted the names to Health Secretary Francisco Duque, who only recently announced the creation of a task force to look into the Dengvaxia mess.

The witness, he added, would be presented in the Senate hearing on the snafu on Monday.
