MAY 15 (Eagle News) — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) administratively relieved fire chief Supt. Mel Jose Lagan along with Senior Insp. Ed-Groover Oculam as authorities started their investigation on what caused the fire on a slipper factory that killed at least 72 persons and some still missing.
Chief Superintendent Mel Jose Lagan and Senior Inspector Ed-Groover Oculam were heads of the local fire station’s section in charge of ensuring compliance with the Country’s code in Valenzuela City.
A BFP official said that the order came on Thursday (May 14) afternoon was merely a “normal procedure” as investigators would also be looking at the accountability of the officials concerned.
