#WalangPasok: Iloilo City suspends classes on Monday, Sept. 30, due to transport strike

(Eagle News)–Iloilo City has suspended classes on Monday, Sept. 30, due to the planned transport strike of some transport organizations.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said in a Facebook post that the suspension covers all levels in both public and private schools.

“This is to minimize the inconvenience to the riding public especially the students,” he said.

The Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide and the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations are planning the strike to oppose the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program.

The Department of Transportation has said it would move to cancel the certificates of public convenience of the PUVs that would participate in the strike.
