(Eagle News) — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on Monday released a teaser video on the New Generation Currency Coin Series.
The video posted on the BSP’s Facebook account showed the physical appearances of the P1, P5, and P10 coins.
The P10 coin features hero Apolinario Mabini and at the back, the kapa-kapa plant.
The BSP said the coin was also “milled with edge lettering.”
The P5 coin, the BSP said, features Andres Bonifacio and at the back, the tayabak plant.
Unlike the P10 coin, the P5 coin has a plain edge, the BSP said.
The P1 coin, for its part, features national hero Jose Rizal, and at the back, a picture of the waling-waling.
The BSP said the P1 coin has an “intermittent reed edge.”
The five-centavo coin features a stylized Philippine flag, and at the back, the kapal-kapal baging plant.
It has a “reeded edge.”
The one-centavo coin, like the five-centavo coin, features a stylized Philippine flag, but at the back has an image of the mangkono plant.
It also has a plain edge.
Of the new-generation coins, only the P5 coin has been released to the public.
The BSP did not say when the other coins would be in circulation.
