Who is the next AFP Chief?

To replace outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines chief-of-staff Lt. Gen. Emmanuel T. Bautista who is scheduled to retire on July 18, Lt. Gen. Gregorio Pio P. Catapang was appointed Wednesday.

Catapang was the vice-chief-of-staff prior to his appointment. He has held this position since May.

He was the former head the Northern Luzon Command and​7th Infantry Division.

​He is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Dimalupig’ Class 1981.

A testimonial parade and review will be held on Friday at the general headquarters parade ground in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City to honor Bautista, followed by a change-of-command ceremony to be led by AFP commander-in-chief and President Benigno S. Aquino III.
