QUEZON City, Philippines (September 5) – “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” The words came from the famous book of Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Entitled “The Little Prince”, it is a compelling story about a prince and a pilot lost in the desert where their little adventure began.
Originally written in French, the author went to a pilot school but eventually dropped-out and decided to have a literary career instead.
The idea of “The Little Prince” came from his appreciation of the beauty of deserts and his misadventures and about getting lost. “The Little Prince” was Antoine’s first novel to be published.
Critically-acclaimed, the book made a widespread impact. In 2015, a movie based on the same was made. Many came to watch and those that watched the film also developed the desire to read the book.
“The Little Prince” is a book-shelf must-have, and it is very essential reading. Here are some of the reasons why:
- Reading the story helps one develop a philosophical view in life. It also widens one’s imagination.
- The characters let you explore life’s movement and deepens one’s senses in relation to the environment. This is the reason why the book is recognized as having a big part in the literature world.
- The appeal of “The Little Prince” is for everybody, no matter what the age.
- Look at those beautiful illustrations!
- And the lines of the story, like the one at the beginning of this article is beautiful too.
Sadly, many kids don’t have the time or interest to read the book or any other book for that matter. According to studies, 68% of children spend more time on the internet instead of reading a book. Just imagine a future, where these kids finally became parents. Do you think they will encourage their own kids to read?
