Xiamen Air vows to pay for costs of aircraft handling, runway recovery in NAIA mishap

(Eagle News)–Xiamen Air on Wednesday, Aug. 22, vowed to pay for the costs of the “aircraft handling and runway recovery” brought about by one of its planes making a hard landing on a Ninoy Aquino International Airport runway and getting stuck there.

In a statement, Xiamen Air said that after the incident, it immediately contacted MIAA and made the commitment.

It said it was also cooperating with an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

As of Aug. 20, it said it has set up eight counters at the four terminals in NAIA and was providing free meals and water to all passengers.

“Up to the afternoon of Aug. 22, more than 55000 meals and water have been supplied to passengers,” it said, as it again apologized for the incident that prompted flight cancellations and delays.
